The University Librarian Speaks on Open Access

Researchers from The United States Visit Nnamdi Azikiwe Library


More recently, the University library has been getting lots of researchers, especially foreigners who deem it fit to visit our library for the rich resources therein.. Some of these researchers come unannounced, while some write to the library first, to establish contact before visiting. 

Today, these two researchers officially announced their presence at the Library by paying visit (courtesy call) to the University Librarian - Professor Chinwe N. Ezeani. See pictures after the cut...

Prof. Chinwe N. Ezeani welcomes the Pro-Chancellor to UNN Library


Chief Mike Olorunfemi, the Pro-Chancellor of University of Nigeria Nsukka officially donated 3050 books to Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, University of Nigeria Nsukka. This event occurred on 11th July, 2017 at the library. The University Library, Prof. Chinwe N. Ezeani, welcomed him and the Vice-Chancellor, with the Council members to the event. Hello! My name is Professor Chinwe N. Ezeani and you are welcome to Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, a centre of intense intellectual inquiry that shares with the university, the aspiration to be the most dynamic learning environment in the world. To achieve this, the library has within the last few years, worked to ensure that our collections remain forward-looking, diverse in breadth, form, and format, and open to browsing and of world class and world –renowned quality. The University library has constantly had the provision of resources for excellent scholarship in the university as a major pivot. These resources now appear in different formats such as print, CD-Rom, microform, electronic, etc. The internet technology resolution has also made great impact on the formats of information resources. We now have e-books, e-journals, e-newspapers, etc, which are all accessible online. Our major aim has remained to provide resources comprehensively and in different formats to support teaching, learning and research in the university. World Book Day in Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The World Book Day was marked today, 2nd March 2017 in University of Nigeria by the University Library, popularly called 'Nnamdi Aziwe Library'. The library currently functions under the leadership of Professor Chinwe N. Ezeani - the first female University Librarian of the University. In commemorating the World Book Day, the library organised a display area for students and other readers. Current books and reference materials of varied subjects were selected for display.

The event was announced on the library Website, Facebook and Twitter Pages.  It was amazing to see readers flood the display area to view the materials on display. Provision was made for the readers to request for their materials of interest on a register and also leave their feedbacks or comments. Many of the readers gave positive feedbacks concerning the event which will be shared on our blog soon.

To add colour to the event, students of Library and Information Science Students visited the Library as they marked the World Book Day also. They interviewed the University Librarian and she addressed the students with words of inspiration and encouragement all to commemorate the Special Day. See pictures after the cut...
