Today, the Reference Librarian - Dr. Mrs Justina N. Ekere took the intern students through reference services in Nnamdi Azikiwe Library. It is in the habit of the library to welcome every student on industrial training from within and outside the University of Nigeria, into the library system by having them go round each section under schedule.
The Reference Librarian introduced the reference services to the students and gave them examples of reference materials such as dictionaries, gazettes, maps, encyclopedias, etc. She added that the reference section is the first port of call for every student seeking information for conceptual framework of a study.
According to Dr. Ekere, the section serves various categories of users - undergraduate and postgraduate students, lecturers and staff, and external users. She defined reference materials as materials that are not meant to be read from cover to cover. She also made mention of e-referencing where users are being served via the Internet. She introduced the
